    I think many people have this problem with their laptops where the built-in bluetooth has been turned off due to OS upgrade/downgrade and when trying to install you get the weird message to turn it on by pressing Fn+F2 or by using the wireless switch on the side of your laptop.

    My problem was missing bluetooth icon in the system tray. It was active as a process in the Task Manager, but there was no way I can make it show up in the tray.

    I've tried many things like:
    using the C:\dell\drivers\R140135\3100_216\Win32\Inst.exe
    Using the R159805 patch to turn it on
    using different driver versions
    disable the bluetooth from BIOS
    Switching the wireless switch during installation

    Nothing helped.

    Then I downloaded the Belkin F8T012/F8T013 Driver and voilla all's fine now.

    Did you try to do this before you installed the Belkin Driver

    Start >> Control Panel >> Classic View >> Bluetooth Devices >> Options >> Show the Bluetooth icon in the notification area?

    Or were you just having issues with BT that was totally different?

    Freelancer, the website you pointed out no longer exists. What was on it?

    Has anybody experienced the error message "Unable to load Bluetooth stack" ? I contacted the Dell support but the only idea he had was that the bluetooth and my McAfee Security Suite don't get along.

    He's talking about the R159805 patch. Search the dell support site and you'll find it. But I don't think that'll help your problem.
    Try the Belkin BT Stack in the first post. It's essentially the same, but give it a try.

    Oh sorry. I didn't know it didn't exist anymore...

    Cyber is probably right. I have no idea what the patch was called but I guess the words Radio On helped

    I've managed to fix this with the R140135.exe for my m1330.
    I extracted the files with winrar and ran the \3100_216\Win32\Setup.exe to install the software.
    It asks you to turn on the bluetooth adapter at the end of the installation, but you simply click cancel and finish the installation. After this, you have the bluetooth icon on the taskbar and you can enable it.
    It worked for me at least
