If you do not have a credit card in are still in luck my friend.

    Order you Dell online.
check the box to have a customer rep call you.
Be around the phone in the morning, early afternoon next day or first day of week, if order placed friday, saturday, or sunday.
They will accept a D.D. from your local bank. You must acquire it and use the courier they recommend. It will be sent to Bangalore and you will have your laptop somewhere around 2 weeks from the moment Dell Bangalore accepts your D.D.
Make sure the D.D. is written to Dell at Bangalore address. This is important.
Otherwise you cannot have a D.D.

This is what I did and it worked like a charm. :)

    Blessings,
    Chatanji

I think that everyone orders from India! ;)

I know that every time I call them, I get India.

I promise you, India has never, will never, and has never thought about what you propose above.

In Bangalore, India there is a growing number of Indians that speak fairly decent English without the poor rhythm and syntax coming from their more difficult language ( only difficult from the English only perspective.)

If you called a Dell customer rep and they sounded very American or English, I promise you, that very person, at that moment, is NOT sitting in India talking to you.

The reason being, the money they pay the Indians, is so much less, than any American or European would take, or could afford to live off of.

I am an American living in India for the last six years.

I hope this clears some smoke out of the air and lets us see some things a little more clear.
