I use Bluetooth to sync my Treo with my laptop, and to use the Treo as a modem to get online when I'm traveling. I could do both of these with a USB cable also, but Bluetooth is handier since I don't have to remember where I put the cable. If you have a smartphone you will probably like having Bluetooth on your laptop.

You can sync with a PocketPC, Smartphone, etc. with Bluetooth. You can use Bluetooth keyboards and mice without any wires or dongles or adapters. You can also send files over Bluetooth.

So have I ever used the Bluetooth on my XPS M1530? Of course not, I only tested it out when I first got it to make sure it worked.

I use it every so often to transfer pictures and/or audio files between my cell phone and computer without paying Cingular 25 cents per transfer or whatever their rate is. Doing this does depend, of course, on your phone supporting Bluetooth, but if it does, Cingular is perfectly fine with you using Bluetooth instead of their network for transfers, and presumably the other major carriers would be as well.
