How big light leakage problem in Dell Inspiron e1405.

Pls address below two question.

1. I am almost decided to buy Dell Inspiron e1405 m/c but i am concerned about light leakage problem in 1405 screen of this ,Can someone pls xplain me how big and important it is and whats its impcat on eyes and clearity.

2.To make sure that my m/c have centrino technology, Should I have to select atleast one option from below section.
Wireless Networking Cards
1.Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945 Mini Card (802.11 a/g, 54Mbps)
2.Intel® PRO 3945 and Dell 350 Bluetooth Internal Wireless Cards

I have an e1405 and I'll admit at first I noticed the light leakage, but thats because people amde such a big deal about it. I honestly don't notice it at all in day to day use, and when watching films its only partially noticable in very dark rooms.

My simple opinion is its not that bad at all, and overall I am very happy with my screen quality. However, other people have had percieved issues, so take that into acount.

As far as the wireless card, I went with:

1.Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945 Mini Card (802.11 a/g, 54Mbps)

However, 1 & 2 are exactly the same -- one just has the bluetooth module added (which you can add later if you wish). I don't currently use BlueTooth for anything, so it'd just be a battery drain. if atsome point I change my mind, I'll add the BT module then.

 

you should order the bluetooth now because you can disable it so it will not use battery power

 

Or if you don't need it, you can order without bluetooth altogether. As long as you select any Intel wireless option, Centrino will be enabled.

 

Exactly my point. I have no need for it, so why waste the money?

Centrinio is only Intel Marketing. Its only a label. It means the 3 components in your PC (Chipset, Processor, Wireless) have all been certified by Intel and they would like you to believe will offer better battery life.

(As a matter of fact, I've been very pleased with my battery life.)

So, in other words, if you don't choose an Intel Wireless solution (Chipset and processor on a Dell notebook aren't optional) then technically, it wouldn't be "Centrino."

Perhaps I just don't see what the big hold-up is. yes, its simply marketing speak to make you think its more important than what it is, but thats what companies do.

If you feel like its a big rip-off, just order the Dell Wireless card and be done with it. Then you'll have Core-Duo, Intel Chipset, Dell Wireless and a bit of light leakage on your laptop.
