    I just received my system two dayz ago .. Its really nice . But I m really skeptical abt the screen . It is appearing to be somewhat granny to me or maybe I m being just paranoid or I had to much expectation as I was using Hi res 17' earlier . How can I check it for sure ....... nd I want to check the manufacturer also LG/Samsung . The ways described in other topics r not workin
    ..

    And can nebody Pllz explain or gimmi the link which describes DELL return policy ??
    THnx

    Yes I think you are! you don’t have to check the manufacturer to see if it is grainy or not :p , and there is no way to check it for sure. If you don't see it then either it is not there or you cant see it , so quit worrying...

    Anyways, to check the manufacture go to Device Manager > Monitors > Generic PnP Monitor > Details > Hardware IDs > MONITOR\XXXYYYY

    If XXX = SEC = Samsung (some say its Seiko Epson)
    ............LPL = LG
    ............AUO = AU Optronics

    i believe the program everest can tell you screen make.

    as far as dell return policy, it rocks.
    i ordered a 1720, didnt like it...mostly the grainy screen...so after 2 weeks of trying it out i returned it. they tried to get me to keep it by offering me money back, but i had made up my mind. i hear they do this to everyone who tries to return a laptop over $1000 or so.

    as long as its within 30 days of the date of purchase, theyll take it back. all you have to pay for is the shipping.

    take it from me, you really seem to be experiencing buyer's remorse. i would suggest calling dell and finding out what the exact return policy is for you specific noteboook. continue to use it, more so than usual...if you dont grow to love your new laptop, something is off, and you should try another machine.

    i also suggest filling out the faq, posting it in "what notebook...?," along with your issues with your current laptop. the guys who frequent that forum know about every computer on the planet, you'll get much better advice there.
