I ordered an Insp 6000 yesterday, and I want the XP system disk(s). I've been on the phone with Dell for about an hour, and keep getting transferred.

What is the best way to accomplish this? Is there a certain telephone number to call?

    Thanks,

    Mike

Dont pay for them. When the machine arrives, argue with dell chat and they will send them to you for free.

That's what I did. I see the order now, but the only things listed are:

    Compact Diskette,Software DELL-APPS,BKUP8,Inspiron

    kit,Compact Diskette,Driver E/CD,Inspiron

    Kit,Software,Overpack,Windows XP,MCE05,Digital Video Disk Drive,English

Won't I also need CDs for Sonic and PowerDVD?

Yes you do, the only way to get them is to call or chat. Use the "Chat with Portable Support" and just argue till the cows come home.

Well, I just got done chatting with Customer Care, who guaranteed me that the Sonic Burning and PowerDVD are included in the above list, but I don't believe them at all. Would you recommend that I try chatting again with Portable Support?

Yes, can you pull up that order number to see if they created it?

Yes, when I pulled up the order number this was all that was listed:

    Compact Diskette,Software DELL-APPS,BKUP8,Inspiron

    kit,Compact Diskette,Driver E/CD,Inspiron

    Kit,Software,Overpack,Windows XP,MCE05,Digital Video Disk Drive,English

I know I've seen on a post somewhere (who knows) where someone posted their invoice for the CDs and it had listed the Sonic Burning and PowerDVD separately.

I got my package of system disks for my 6000 today.

This is what was listed on the site:
    Order Group Quantity Item Description
    1 1 KD183 KIT,SW,OVPK,WXP,MCE05A,DVD,ENG
    2 1 H8516 CDSK,SW,DELL-APPS,BKUP25,DIM
    3 1 Y5994 KIT,CDSK,DRVR,RSD,DIM,DAO

The OS DVD seems fine, but I can't really tell what is on the other 2 discs, as there is really no sensible files names/listings, and I'm not home so I don't want to start the install utilities.

I have a strong feeling that Sonic and PowerDVD aren't on there though.

On a side note, I went on dell's site, logged in, and under drivers/downloads they have Sonic available for download there, but I couldn't find PowerDVD.

What's the first sentence did you tell them? Cause I have no idea how to DEMAND... if I ask, it will sound like whimping and they might say "NO". :( any suggestion?

    Try this:

Dear sir, SEND ME THE DISCS or I'll f*ck you up Old-school style, b**ch......

Or try a nicer way... LOL

if they say no, just call back and talk to someone else, or do another chat with someone else, eventually they will just agree to give them to you.

Now actually getting the right discs is a whole other story.

After 4+ chat sessions I am unable to get them to send me a Cyberlink Power DVD Disk or a Sonic Disk.

My first chat session led to them sending me a "System Applications CD" which doesn't include those programs.

I am preparing to reinstall my B120 and I haven't had any luck. They keep telling me to burn the program from my PC but I don't see the .exe install on my PC.

I am on my last attempt. I am trying to talk to a "portable" chat rep. but unfortunetly for me they seem to be "assisting a million other dell customers" probably with the same problem.

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

lol I don't think that is nice. The chat person have never met or do anything wrong to me. In morals, it is just wrong to do that. :p All I want is a way to make them happy to send me the CDs without the problems.

I want do the chat, cause it is more instant. If the chat doesn't work, I might just do the e-mail or the phone call (hate the waiting).

When I ordered my Inspiron 6000 I called them over the phone (yes, you can use the online coupons too) and just asked for the disk. It's only $10

You need to talk to the portable support or tech support. Customer support won't do anything. Just explain that you reformatted your computer, and you received the OS disk, but you need 2 additional disks: Cyberlink Powerdvd, and Sonic MyRecord.

I saw someone earlier had a question about the other two CDs that come with the OS disk. One is the junkware. The other is the driver/dell software CD, but this disk does NOT include PowerDVD or Sonic.
