    Hi there,

Could anyone please help me solve the following problem?
Well, I ran recently a wrong upgrade/patch for my Dell printer 924 that I downloaded from the Dell's website in order to make my printer work with Vista. In fact, the upgrade/patch messed up with MediaDirect3 and removed it from Windows. Now, MediaDirect3 is still working if I press the MediaDirect button when my laptop is turned off but MediaDirect3 is not working anymore in Windows! I mean MediaDirect3 is not opening anymore if I press the MediaDirect button on the palmrest of my Dell Inspiron 6400 or if I click on the MediaDirect icon on my desktop when my laptop is turned on!
As a matter of fact, I tried a system restore but it didn't help! And when I also tried to re-install MediaDirect3 for Windows by running 'DELLKIT.EXE' after exploring the MediaDirect3 DVD and after opening the folder 'DELLKIT' inside, I got a message saying 'MediaDirect is already installed on your PC. Please click Esc to exit'!
Do you have any idea about how I eventually can repair it and make it work again when the system is turned on i.e. with Windows Vista?

Thanks in advance and kind regards,

    peteriiino

N.B. Additional information on the printer upgrade/patch I mentioned above.

Try uninstalling the Setup from Windows and reinstalling it back in Windows....

First of all, thanks a lot for your quick reply!
Well, could you please tell me how to uninstall the setup from Windows as I can't find it in Windows anymore if I search for it! I think that bloody printer update/patch has removed it!
    Thanks again,

    peteriiino

I think you downloaded something else than a printer update :)

I would suggest to just re-install?

    Do you have MD3.3?
If yes then go put the MD CD in and run SETUP not dellkit. go into the folder and run the setup manually.
Once you run it, it will say that you already have MD installed. It will also give you a choice to uninstall it. Here you can uninstall and then reinstall by running the setup again. This should fix the problem.
    Please report how it goes.

    Best iafzal3,

Firstly, thank you so much for your reaction!
Well, let me inform you that I actually have MD3 and not MD3.3! :(
Does your solution also work on MD3? Is MD3 then the same as MD3.3?

    Thanks again,

    peteriiino

    Sorry,
My understanding is that they are different so I am not sure if it will work. I told you what worked for me as I have formatted mt HD and reinstalled MD3.3 and it seems to work correctly for me.
You can choose to do what I did for MD3.3 on your own risk.
Goodluck and if you find a solution do post so it can help others.

I have MediaDirect 3.3 on my Dell Vostro 1500 (Vista) and got it uninstalled some time back.

But, now it does not start widout booting to windows... !!!

can anybody help me? I saw at some sites that something needs to be done to the hard disk partitions. can anyone plzz guide me?
