    Hey,

I know this may or may not be a dumb question, and i apologize in advanced; but i purchased a High Resolution, glossy widescreen 15.4 inch LED LCD (1440x900) & 2.0 M; But the highest setting, resolution wise, is at 1280x800 (which would be the standard screen); I'm not too sure how exactly that would work, but could it be the video drivers i am using (i got the latest on the laptopvideo2go website for the 8600 GT) Could i have just gotten a lower resolution screen by mistake?

    Thanks!
    -Chris

Control Panel - Device Manager - Monitors - Generic PnP Monitor - Details - Hardware IDs. What does the hardware ID say?

Edit: For the LED, it should be CMO15555.

Its listed as "Plug and Play Moniter"
The Hardware ID for it is CPT141F

Go to Control Panel, Device Manager, Monitor, Generic PnP Monitor, then go to details, and under property find hardware ID. It should say CMO1555 if it's an LED. It's the only model available for the LED. If it's something else, then you must have the lower resolution screen. I thought they discontinued those.

I don't think it's a driver problem. Even after formatting the OS and having the bare driver, I think I could still set to 1440 x 900. Call Dell if they gave you the wrong screen.

Yep, that is a 1200 x 800 screen. Call dell first thing in the morning.

Check your invoice. Does it say you were supposed to get a LED?

    Damnit >___<
And i think imma have to return this harddrive again
I'm getting 651 offline uncorrectable sectors, using the SMART settings scan w/ speedfan (which i think is pretty reliable) under 5 days of use; This is beginning to be a huge pain, could i replace the screen myself no problem? Or is the wiring "complicated" (i've opened my fair share of lappys before, each ones a little different so..)

    Thanks! >_<
Btw, will i get a refurbished LED LCD screen? Like i did with this harddrive, because i am going to have a field day with dell if i dont receive a new harddrive/screen, i paid $2000 for this machine, and expect it to work flawlessly. This screen is actually really bright and sexy, if the LED is better, then man, am i in for a treat...

Yes, i just checked online; the guy screwed up my order, my original order had LED, when the guy revised it, i called in changed the colour from tuxedo black to midnight blue microsatin (i was told it fares much better against touch, the black tending to rub off) he didnt cross it over, which means i paid an additional amount, nothing was refunded to my account for any difference in the mistake.

So your invoice says you did NOT get an LED screen?

I wonder if you will be able to talk them into just giving you one...

I am, they charged me for it, i have TWO invoices; my original order with the tuxedo black, and the revised order with the midnight blue; theres a $200 in screen there, they "transferred" the charge from one invoice to the other, and it was a mistake on the representative's part, because i verified all parts with the guy, piece by piece, since he had to rebuild it (to also keep the $800 or so savings in stackable coupons)

Wow.. talk about a screw up.. This was the rep's fault obviously, for not writing the order correctly, but did you not get a copy of the order, or check it online, when it was being processed, to insure it was properly made?
