You would have to get a new processor, which would require the knowledge of how to take out and put a new processor in. That can get tricky.

That I think is a Dell setting that coinsides with Windows, but I don't know where to change it. Heartofgold knows where it is because I've read it in a post before.

    Dell Inspiron 9300
    Windows XP Pro SP2
    1.86 ghz Intel Pentium M
    1 GB ram
    80 GB 5200 rpm
NVIDIA GeForce Go 6800 256 MB video card
    17'' WideScreen UXGA with TrueLife

You don't need to change it. The processor will jump up to full speed when you use it. When it is inactive it drops the speed down to 800 mhz to save power and reduce heat.

Yeah just like what he said it runs at 800mhz to conserve power and then turbo kicks which the output is 1.6Ghz. THis is why it's clled INTEL MOBEL CENTRINO-kinda like Athlon 3Dnow but not as good.

I think you can turn it off in the BIOS. Not sure why you would want to... it works well.

I was just questioning the fact that if you could. I keep my 9300 plugged up most of the time, so it doesn't matter to me.

Just select "always on" in power options under the screensaver tab in display properties. But this will make your fan come on more often and your CPU won't last as long. Of course we're talking maybe 10 vs 20 years, but still...
