Hello all,
I bought my Dell XPS 1530.
Will arrive on Saturday.
When it arrives what can I do to make sure all devices are working right?
To test, gpu, cpu, mb, LED screen, ram, hdd, sound, camera, mic, etc.
Can we make a check list for that, with possibles tests to make, softwares to install?
I search some in the forum don't find anything like that, sorry if I double posted.

Well I guess you could just go into device manager and right click the component and go to properties. It'll either say the device is working properly or there is a problem.
If you wanna do some benchmarks you have a couple options:
HDD: Download HDtune and compare to other drives of the same speed
CPU: Lots of programs here, wprime is good for dual core. Again, compare to other CPUs of the same type.
For the screen. Shut off the light and put a black image on full screen. check if you see any white dots and check the outer edges of the screen to see if they're brighter.
GPU you can benchmark with 3dmark 06. That also benchmarks RAM, CPU, and HDD. It gives a cumulative score though.
Sound: Play music?
Camera and Mic: Videochat with someone
Motherboard: No idea
I personally think it's not necessary to do all this. If the computer runs... it's pretty much in working order. But for your own comfort, I think using the device manager and checking every components properties is practical. Everything else is mostly just performance oriented. -
Physically:
-Check if keyboard is bumped in middle making a slight hill
-Check if the notebook itself is level by pushing on opposite corners
-Check if the bottom is nice and closed up (no unscrewed covers)
When booting up, check your device manager for "Optiarc" under the CD/DVD drive. If you do, consider getting it replaced as they are very noisy and sound like a cat dies each time you stick a CD in or eject.
How do I check that my XPS1530 devices are working right?
