    my new Dell XPS M1330?

It's not in the control panel under the mouse settings, it's not in the keyboard settings, it's not in the add/remove program settings.

I have a wireless USB mouse and my cursor goes everywhere when I type because I keep hitting the touch pad by mistake. I've lost whole emails right in the middle of typing.

    Help!

You can disable it in the device manager.

Not sure why you aren't able to see it in the control panel>mouse settings. After clicking mouse, click the Dell Touchpad tab at the top. Then click on the touchpad picture that appears. From the new window that pops up, click "Device Select" at the top left. Click the button to disable the Touchpad.

This is assuming you have the Synaptics 9.1.18.6 version touchpad driver.

That's the problem - I don't have the Dell Touchpad tab. In the control panel>mouse settings I have tabs that read "Buttons", "Pointers", "Pointer Options", "Wheel", and "Hardware."

How do I find out if I have the Synaptics 9.1.18.6 version touchpad driver? All I have for in my device manager are 2 mice and no touchpad. :(

Thank you so much! That download did the trick and now my touchpad driver button has appeared. I have disabled my touch pad when my mouse is attached.

    You're a rock star!!!

I did the same thing on my dell laptop at work. I just don't see how people can type with the touchpad right in front of the keyboard. I definetly prefer the little joystick idea that most laptops had a few years back.

Ahh nice, this was always one of the little inconveniences I wouldn't have thought there was a way around. Set it to just turn off the touchpad when I plug in my usb mouse :)

Sorry, that is an old driver and not recommended. The recommended TouchPad driver for Dell XPS M1330 is from Synaptics:

    Description: Synaptics TouchPad
    Release: 12/06/2007, 10.1.8.0
    Size: 5.30 MB
    Download: Synaptics_Driver_V10_1_8_Vista32
    Source: Synaptics

You can check **Official Dell XPS M1330 Manuals, Drivers & Utilities** for all the latest Microsoft Windows Vista 32-bit drivers and utilities.
