Just got a new 700m and when I use the Function key to increase or decrease the brightness the screen changes, but there's no graphical demonstration of how bright or dark I've made it (eg bars or a meter). Is there a setting somewhere to do this, or do I have to guess how bright it is?

How do I do this? I downloaded Quickset from the dell site and tried to install it, but got a message that my computer was not a supported system, and it didn't install.

that's weird, did you download for the correct operating system?

oh also, if it's a new 700, it should be installed already unless you reformatted?

Turns out that Quickset is not available for the 700m. It's not listed on the compatibility list and I've now found comments to that effect from other 700m users. Bizarre.

Well, have you tried the windows way (display properties\settings\advanced). Dell usually cuts that off too, but it never hurts to give it a look.
