Just brought a Dell Vostro 1400. Could anyone tell me how to figure out what lcd screen I have? The item number is 320-5566, which most people said would be an SEC panel, but I've read a thread where someone had that item number and got an AUO panel instead. I purchased the XGA+ screen for the Vostro 1400.

Use "everest" and then do a google search for the code it says!

Hey, thanks. I found out I have an AUO panel. What should I do to try and get an SEC panel? Should I call or use the online support thing? Thanks

Well you shouldnt just try to get a new panel because u got an AUO!

If its a very grainy one or u got any problems with it you can of course try to get a new one , always worth a try ;)

Yeah it is very grainy, and viewing angles aren't that great. So should I call or use online support? Which is usually faster and easier to do? Thank you. If the screen was fine, I would of kept it.

I would just call them and tell them that the display is unacceptable and u want a different or else you will return the notebook , they will most likely offer u to upgrade ur screen for a few bucks since they dont want to lose a customer.

mine says 320-5565, wonder what it will be.

do you know if they let you change to XGA matte(or a xga+ matte don't know if they even exist) ??

I don't think their is a XGA+ matte. It wasn't part of selection choice. I'm pretty sure they would let you go a part down if you ask since XGA+ was $40 more.

the 320-5565 does not tell you what screen you have. you need to know the actual part number. that is not the actual part number also unless you have in home service you can not get a different screen you either have to send in the notebook or have them send you a replacment. trust me
