    How do I find out what kind of ram my 8600M GT has?

    I downloaded RivaTuner and it says ddr3 but everyone here says it can only be ddr2 from dell? :confused:

    RivaTuner can not differentiate DDR2 and DDR3. It lists all 8600m gt as DDR3. You have the DDR2.

    All Dell's have the DDR2 version, that's why. No way around it.

    The maximum memory clock for DDR2 is 400 Mhz (i.e. GDDR2-800) while that for DDR3 is 700 Mhz (i.e. GDDR3-1400).... memory running at 400 Mhz is bound to be GDDR2 only....

    Just downloaded gpu-z and it does report it as ddr2

    DDR2 is 600 and the GDDR3 used in the 8600GT is 900. GDDR3 real max is 1200 I think.

    If RT says DDR3, it's DDR2. If it's GDDR3, it will show it correctly
