Dell's "Keep your Hard Drive" service means that if your hard drive becomes defective while under warranty, you can get a replacement drive without having to send in the defective one to Dell. Thus, Dell does not get your private files.

I found this page that has information about ithe "Keep your Hard Drive" service in Canada:
    http://www1.ca.dell.com/content/top...ort/keep_harddrive?c=ca&cs=cabsdt1&l=en&s=bsd

It says the service is available on PowerEdge servers, select PowerVault and Dell/EMC storage solutions and Dimension, Inspiron, Latitude, OptiPlex and Dell Precision computers.

However, I have not found it as an option on the Inspiron laptop online configurator so far.

Also, I find it strange that Inspiron is mentioned in the linked page, but not Vostro.

So, does anybody know if the "Keep your Hard Drive" service is available on Vostro and Inspiron laptops in Canada?

My M90 came with the service. Call and ask?

I chatted with a rep. At first he/she said "Return your Hard Drive" was not available in Canada, but after I gave the link, he/she said that it applied to Inspirons desktops and laptops, whether or not one gets the Onsite or Depot warranty.

It's available to corporate and certain other customers; not to general consumers and small businesses.

    Indeed, the link:
    http://www1.ca.dell.com/content/topi...dt1&l=en&s=bsd
is in the Small Business directory, but it mentions Inspirons, which are consumer computers only. That's why I had a chat with a rep.

I don't know Canadian policies, but I have only come across it as I described, and have never seen it on a typical Home/Small Business config page. I suppose if you attempt to order it on the phone, you might be able to get it, but I don't know Dell's ordering system that well.
