Whenever I have my external hard drive powered on and I reboot my computer hangs on a black screen during startup. I think that it is trying to boot from the external drive first. Any way I can fix this?

To go to the Bios at the Dell logo hit F2

okay i managed to get into the bios...and changed the boot sequence but it didnt seem to fix anything..I noticed something called USB Emulation was enabled, could this be it? Do I need this or can I disable it?

USB emulation was needed for me, I tried disabling it and my external HDD wasn't reconized all I can say is try it and see what happens. Check to see if there is conflict with IRQ's or drivers.
