How do I get my Vostro 1500 with an 8600MGT to output on an SDTV?

I bought the SVA to RCA cables and I've got everything hooked up. But when I press Function+F8 to output the signal the TV stays black. Funny thing is my desktop will flicker for a moment if I switch between just the TV having the signal and both the laptop monitor and TV having the signal.

I'm assuming this has to do with the video card.

Hey guess who else had the same problem but figure out a solution. :)
From my experience, SDTV don't work with resolution above 1024 x 765 especially if you are using the S-Video output. Therefore, You can use the nvida control panel to set it to use Dual monitor, with laptop screen as primary and TV as extension. Now go to Display Property (Right click on desktop then "Properties" ) ,then "Settings" click on the Box with 2 or 1 which ever is the TV, and enable "Extend my desktop to this monitor", set the resolution below or equal to 1024 x 765 and it should work. SOMETIMES, you just had to keep trying, either with the Nvidia control panel or the Display property, because it just refuse to set the res for the TV, I have no idea why, but it doesn't take long until it finally figure out which is which and sets the right res for both.

Sometimes it is just weird, like Laptop monitor has to be 1024 x 765, together for TV's 1024 x 765 to stick, but other times it allows me to set different res for both. Meh...

    A SDTV only supports a 640x480 resolution.

Really?! I have able to set my 6 years old TV to 800x 600 or 1024 x 765 and it took both, except at 800 x 600 (I guess when it is closer to it's native res) text are more readable.
