I ordered the upgraded sound, the software upgrade. Is it already installed?

It should be. The audigy sound package basically means that you have more options to work with your sound. I haven't gotten my laptop yet, so I can't tell you what exactly it does, but look in your sound options and if you see more options than what you'd expect then it's probably installed.

I have it, it comes in a separate disk in the parts and manuals box

You have to install and register with the key given at the back of the CD cover

All it does is give you some options to play with the sound. I like it, and i can now enable EAX for my Battlefield 2 now.

Did it, but it didn't ask for the key on the back of the cd sleeve.

That's odd. After my format and reinstall, I had to go to their website and enter the validation key in order to install it. Maybe you already had it installed and that's why you didn't have to activate it.

Now how could I check that I really have it installed?

Do you have a white, square icon at the bottom right that's called Sigma Tel High definition Audio CODEC? If so, double click it and you'll see some EAX options. I'm assuming that's the software right there.
