I just received a replacement laptop, and was suprised to get a 1730. The laptop has dual 8700M GTs

However I can't find anything in the Nvidia control panel on SLI (nor in the manual it came with)

I'm using the most current video drivers listed under my service tag from dell.

**The only thing I could find is if I go under Manage 3D settings, Program Settings, then I select a game.

SLI Performance mode -> Only option is Nvidia recommended (SLI)

I want to take advantage of what this laptop has to offer :D

You are on the right track.. Right click your desktop an enter the Nvidia Control panel.. Go under performance.. An Enable SLI There should be 2 boxes...

    I don't see those options.

    Driver date: 9/6/2007
    driver version: 6.14.11.5661

    Control panel version: 1.4.200.08

(these are the XP 32bit drivers)

Thats strange.. Iam using XP as well.. You should have had a ballon pop up saying "SLI Capable System"... Did you hit advanced options when opening the Nvidia Control panel? You should have a performance tab in the left column... If not reinstall the video drivers..
GO to Dell.com/support... Download the Drivers under windows XP listed for the Nvidia 8800GTX they are newer drivers an fully compatible with the 8700's.. Install those an see if it helps.. Good luck!

I tried the nVidia GeForce 8800M GTX SLI XP drives....
    R175657 .exe
They gave me alot of error messages, and I couldn't access the control panel (I fully uninstalled the old drivers too)

Back to nVidia GeForce GO 8700M GT SLI
    R167604.EXE

    I don't have this option
: SLI Performance Mode: If you are running two or more Nvidia graphics cards in SLI Mode, you can select a specific SLI rendering mode here. This option will not be covered in detail as I do not have access to an SLI setup to test or describe these options properly. If in doubt, select the default Recommended option.

well thats a simple answer you dont have sli. In this case you only have 1 card installed which is the 8700m gt. This is possible because on dell website their current basic m1730 offers 1 8700m gt and the ability to upgrade to 2 8700mgt or 2 8800m gt.

the best website to go to for drivers is www.laptopvideo2go.com make sure you also download the modded inf and copy it to the installtion directory of the driver. I am use 175.16 I think and they are working very well. not sure on performance but sli option is there. Hope this helps.
