My mother just purchased a new computer from dell with Vista on it. She is a travel agent and her companys travel software is not compatible with IE7 yet so she needs to downgrade to IE 6 How can you accomplish this?

You can't. I'd delete Vista and install XP Pro if she really needs IE6.

You don't have to delete Vista. Use Vista's partition editor to create another partition on the HD (or use a different HD if you have more than one). Install XP there and use it as a dual-boot setup. She can use XP for work and Vista for everything else.

    OR

Look into using a Virtual Machine (VMWare or Parallels)...using that you can run Windows XP inside of Vista without ever leaving Vista.

    That'll make Vista unusable...

Certainly would. If you do want to do a dual-boot, install XP first then Vista.

Or install XP and then re-install/repair your Vista install. That'll fix the MBR and update it back to the Vista bootloader. A lot less painful than reinstalling 2 OSs.

Or get Virtual PC 2007 and install XP onto that. This way she doesn't have to reboot the computer in order to just use IE6.
