I imagine more than a few people find themselves in this boat:

You buy a new Dell laptop and immediately buy bigger RAM elsewhere. So now you've got a couple of, say, 512 Mb spare sticks of DDR2 RAM on your hands. What do you do with them, assuming you don't have another rig to put them in?

I'm thinking of putting mine up for sale on craigslist. Anyone got any better solutions?

I would keep them, just in case you ever have to send your notebook back to Dell for repairs. I've heard stories of how some companies "replace" your RAM back to whatever amount was installed in the factory...so put the original RAM back in before you ship it out.

Wow! That's twisted! If you ever find yourself without your original RAM you might want to take a picture of the laptop with the RAM access panel opened. If it comes to that, I don't think a small's claim judge or an arbitrator would challenge the veracity of the picture.

I've never had to use pictures but ever since I got a digital camera I've been taking plenty of pictures of apartments I've moved in and out of.
