I had a Vostro 1500 before which I didn't like and returned it about 2 days after I received it. The return rep told me I will receive a full refund.
I currently have a Dell XPS M1530 on order. How does Dell handle cancellation prior to shipment and returns for the XPS laptops? Can I cancel the order prior to shipment without having to face any cancellation fees? Can I return it once I receive it without having to face any restock fees (if so, how many days do I have)?
I ask because once I make an order, Dell offers a better deal shortly afterwards. I'm not sure whether to make a new order for a better deal and then cancel my previous order, or if I should just wait for the morning, call them up and ask them to change my current order and apply the better deals to it. I think doing the prior would be best since coupons/discounts have a tendency of expiring. But I just want to confirm I won't be penalized for doing so.

guess what? hardware ALWAYS drops in price. have fun on your revolving circle of notebook purchases/returns

If you keep waiting for a better deal, you'll never have a laptop. It's the nature of the business and eventually you just have to bite the bullet and make the purchase.
Guaranteed, as soon as you buy one however, you'll find a better deal. Just gotta suck it up. -
Obviously hardware prices drop and a $1000 computer today will be worth $200 in 2 years. However, when it comes to "can I save $600 extra by having my order ship 1 week later", I think I'll take the $600 in savings rather than passing up the opportunity because "hardware prices always fall". I'm on a budget and the savings is well worth the added week to shipment.
So can anyone answer my questions in the original post? -
yes you can return it once you receive it with no fees and re order again

Has the 1530 Shipped yet? There are usually restocking fees if the return was not on Dell's error.
"Restocking Fees: Unless the product is defective or the return is a direct result of a Dell error, a restocking fee of 15% may be charged on hardware, accessories, peripherals, parts and unopened software still in its/their sealed package, and on software that has not been downloaded if the software is delivered electronically."
