What country are you ordering this from because in the US there is no option for 7200rpm.

Also, you can save some money and just go with 3GB of RAM because Vista 32 bit can't make use of all 4GB.

Personally I don't think the Software is that great. You're better off with just the regular HD 2.0 Speakers.

And you seem to be getting a lot of extras like LoJack, PC Tuneup, McAfee, etc. McAfee is a hog and you can get another antivirus for free.
Personally I would ditch those and maybe upgrade the processor one notch instead.

Looks like a great notebook none the less.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^
    Canada has the option.

I would personally get the 320gb hard drive over the 200 7200rpm,

Seems overpriced for what you are getting... If these are US dollars you should be able to get a VERY nicely setup XPS M1530 for that price...

Ya, when I configed one, it was like $1500 and it was pretty stacked.

I think it's the LoJack and addons like that which cause the price to jump

ya - you should be looking at a ~$1500 or so price tag.
Try taking off some of those extras.

Everywhere outside of USA has the 7200RPM option, though not for the 320GB I believe. Whatever the case, I'm just glad I have a 320GB 7200RPM for my M1530.

Mcaffee and the some of the other extras were included in the package I picked out! Some I didn't add..

What would be the best screen for movies and such?

    Do I need this?

6X Slot Load Bluray (BD) Combo Drive (BD Read Only)

    Dell 1510 Wireless-N Card

    you need the video card.

you don't need the bluray combo unless you want to watch bluray movies (im getting one on mine).

you don't need the wireless-n card, the wireless-G card will be fine.

you don't need the bluetooth stereo headset.

you don't need the sound blaster software.

remove those and repost the price, but it sounds like the XPS is a far better option, faster CPU, lighter, better video card, cheaper, etc etc.

well if you like the look of the Studio, then you should go for it. After all, you'll be looking at it a lot :)
Personally I like the Studio a lot too.

And you're right - it seems that the Studio 15 offers a 7200rpm HDD option, but not the Studio 17. hmmm....odd. Well, maybe the 17 will in the future.

    Anyways,

    yes - definitely a keeper

Only needed if you watch Blu-ray movies. If you just watch DVDs or downloaded movies, etc then just get the regular CD/DVD drive.

I would recommend it, but it's not necessary unless you have a draft n router.

    not needed

    not needed

I have seen the config options for this notebook and it dos not have the Intel Next-Gen N Card as one but it does have a newer and updated Dell 1510 Wireless-N Card from the previous Dell 1505 Wireless-N Card that the XPS or other notebooks have from Dell. How does this Dell 1510 Wireless-N Card compare to the Intel N card from a performance, compatibility and reliabilty as this is newer than the previous Dell wireless n card that Dell had.

Personally unless you're using the laptop to hook up to a HDTV, you don't need Bluray. Renting movies on I-Tunes at the highest quality would probably be smarter if you really need that high of a quality for movies. And even if you were going to use it only at home, you might as well just get a PS3.

Is it worth it to order it with the Wireless-N, since I'll keep this lappy for 1-2 years, it might be better to have the new generation, isn't it?
    Thanks for any replies!

He could just get a XPS and a PS3 instead.
