    Comcast used to suck around here but so far my connection has been excellent, no slowdowns/outages, great ping. So there's hope for them.

    Guys dont laugh.
    In South Africa the fastest broadband through our local telecoms co is 4Mb.
    but the average household only has a 384kb DSL connection!! Average download is about 40kb/s!!

    Im on a 100/100 mbit fiber connection here in amsterdam, pay around $ 47, for unlimited internet, free uncapped newsserver, phone and tv, around 37 channels.

    Speed test wont go to 100 mbit some how :p
    with an other test page i usually get around 96 down and 92 up or so :D

    And I'm not sure what the monthly bill is. I'm willing to bet our other desktop is faster - this desktop feeds off the wired LAN so I didn't expect anything better than those stats.

    According to Speedtest.net my college in the fall will have these speeds:

    13473 kb/s for download
    5801 kb/s for upload

    ~~~
    Wow, so I'm gonna like that, probably, compared to what I normally deal with!
    I am with Virgin Media (UK) and I get the following:
    Full TV service minus sports and movies, cause movies are all repeats month after month, and sports.... not a big fan.
    Telephone Line rental
    Broadband 4MB
    All for £47.00 = $90.00 a month, and plus the TV box will record TV rewind pause, and also HD as well.
    AND TO BOOT THEY ARE UPGRADING MY SERVICE BEFORE JUNE TO 10MB ALL FOR THE SAME PRICE (WOW!!!!)
    Oh I wasn't referring to their connection. I was referring to their monopolistic tactics. They charge up the behind for their products.
    I got the Merlin EX720 from Sprint and typical speeds are at least 200kb/s faster than my Verizon DSL. And from anywhere, too, not just at home! Goodbye, Verizon!
    webtax, are you refering to "telefonica" and their recent speed increase? My relatives in south america are somewhat happy about. However, the service is still expensive.
    The cheapest plan is 500k/128k for $40 and the most expensive one is 2.5mb/128k which costs $130...
    100/100 Mb/Sec, Fiber (of course :) ) cost me (only) 250 Swedish kronor a month (25 EURO)
    60 MB/Sec in download is good enough (especially on a saturaday noon when the ISP is very operated)
