Can some please tell me if the m1330 palm rest area gets hot after extended use after a few hours of working on it or gaming?

    Thank You.

To be honest, mine doesn't get hot at all. No more than my 700m did. I've left it on non-stop for the past three days downloading a file and it is still perfectly fine. Warm. Not hot.

Now... the AC adapter on the other hand. That mother is scorching.

It will of course make a big difference if your downloading or playing games. It seems, from what I've read, that M1330 palm rest gets notably hot during intensive tasks.

This doesn't mean, however, that the crucial parts, like the cpu or gpu, are too hot. In fact, if the palm rest is getting hot it means that heat is escaping and cooling the system.

So it's possibly a design plus that the M1330's palm rests get hot rather than, as is common, only the base of the computer. It's not always easy for heat to escape from the base, for example if it's lying on a bed, but heat can easily escape form the palm rest.

ok - my turn to weigh in. Last night i played 3 hours of madden on it. The palmrests stayed about the same temperature, but bottom of the computer got HOT!. You definitely cant do gaming with the thing on your lap, unless you have some kind of cooling pad.

After about 30 minutes of madden, the fan went on full speed, and stayed on for the rest of the time. Not a huge inconvenience, because i couldnt hear it as i was plugged into my 5.1 surround system, but when I put my hand over the rear vent (back left), I couldnt hold it there for more than 5 secs. This was without overclocking the video card in any way (though i was using non-standard drivers)

as for the AC adapter (well, the power brick), ive noticed it only gets really hot when i am charging AND using the laptop. Just charging or just using the laptop, the temp is fine.

mine gets really hot, if you keep your computer on but close the lid so it remains on, when you open it back up after 5-10 minutes the palm rests are REALLY hot, not to mention the bottom of the laptop and the power brick
