After a while of use, or half an hour of a game, the thing can get really hot near the ram compartment. It can get super hot, and the thermometer is reading around 131F with Halo PC running, so...how hot should I let it get without turning it off to let it cool down? Im worried since this is my first laptop, and I dont know how hot it should really get ;)

Also anyone know a program so taht I can control ALL the fans except fan #1 and #2 ? Cause it gets hot. Any way to edit the bios for that reason?

im not really sure about the heat, but if i were you i'd at least put it in hibernation or sleep mode lol. If it is starting to burn think of how hot the components are

Thinking of getting a Inspiron 9100

I have an i8600 and wasn't aware that there were more than 2 fans. I'm using that same program you have though. Too bad the DIMMs don't have active cooling.

These signatures suck. I always mistake them as part of the post.

There are only two fans: one for the CPU and one for the GPU. I looked inside and that was all I could find. That temperature is totally normal.

one thing that I can suggest if you are getting a heated latop top is to have the side which the fan is located to be around a inch or two off the ground, or hanging off the surface, so that better ventilation can happen. I have been doing this for the last month with my 600m and have noticed that it stays VERY cool, rather than when I leave it totally against the surface and it gets VERY hot.

As long as you haven't been messing around inside the laptop, Dell is responsible for making sure it does not overheat. If the RAM starts giving errors, blame it on Dell.
What is your GPU temp? That is important to know as well.
