I think if you trade in the 1 gb 667mhz RAM for 2gb 533mhz you'll get more RAM on your laptop and yet not pay alot extra. The 667 RAM's are pretty expensive on the dell website.

If you plan on running Windows Vista, then you may want to add soe more RAM. It can be added afterward, and it is normally cheaper that way. 2 Gb can be had for about $140, but you will need to remove any previous RAM modules, as the notebook has two slots. if you are confident enough to replace the RAm after buying, then it will be best to configure the notebook with as little RAM as possible. That way, you can reduce cost and put that into buying the new RAM.

At the moment, if you have a decicated graphics card, then you will not notice any performance difference with either 667 MHz or 533 MHz RAM. The older idea of the FSB having to be equal is still smehwat valid, but not with the current Core 2 Duo range. This because 533 Mhz, when coupled with a dedicated graphics card, will give enough bandwidth to the processor.

If you want to upgrade your own RAM, make sure you get 1GB in 1DIMM (it's currently configured in 2 DIMM's). Otherwise, you'll have to take the old RAM out and sell it or whatever and buy 2GB, rather than just buying another single 1GB DIMM.

Zero I think it would cost more than CAN$140 to buy a 2gb Laptop RAM in Canada. I wonder if newegg does actually ship to Canada and if there's any custom/brkrge fee's associated with it.

Oh, you're in Canada. It may well be more there then. Newegg does have resonbly priced RAM, but I don't think they ship to Canada. If not, then look around the online shops in Canada and get an idea of the price. I'm not too sure myself, as newegg is normally the place for most people.

I think firedude lives in the US coz its a E1505 but i just wondered if the price you mentioned is in US or CAN. Too bad that canadian buyers like myself don't get good deals on ram etc..

:p I am in the US....Im guessing RAM is cheaper to buy at newegg and then I can ebay the 2 512 chips on ebay...I would configure 1 GB as a 1 dimm but there is no configuration that allows that for the E1505

also do you think its worth getting more than 1 year warranty and accident program? I broke my LCD on my 700m after about 2 years.....so
