    How is the 4k screen on the inspiron 15 7000?

    After talking with Dell it turns out that the only way to get a Inspiron 15 7000 (budget gaming laptop) with a IPS screen in my country is to go for the 4K model

    It's clearly overkill since it doesnt have hardware capable of 4K (at least in games) but since the 4K model is currently on sale near me and not that much more expensive I'm thinking it might be worth it if there is a big advantage in brightness and color accuracy.

    But I can't find any information about the screen. Every review our there focuses on the terrible TN screen.
    I don't know how bright it is, how good or bad the color accuracy is, how much it impacts battery life ,etc.

    I'd be willing to pay some more if it's a big step up from other screens but if it's just going to be as bad as the IPS on the legion y520 (except for resolution) I might as well go for the legion.

    Does anyone have any info?

    Last time I checked (when it came out), It was the same panel from the XPS 15 9550 (2016 model) but without calibration - in short, it's very good even without professional calibration. Colours should be solid at (assuming they haven't changed it) 100% sRGB and over 80% Adobe RGB. Brightness should come in around 340 nits.

    Battery life should be about 5-6 hours with the 4K screen and 7-8 hours with the 1080p screen. In both cases, much better than the Y520's 4 hours.

    It is indeed the LQ156D1JW06, same 4K panel used by several of Dell's laptops (including XPS and Alienware). There is one Youtube reviewer who apparently reviewed it, and the numbers were pretty much as @don_svetlio reported for its specs.

    According to HWiNFO64, in my Inspiron 7567 with 4K screen, my monitor has the following properties :
    Monitor Name : Sharp [Unknown Model: SHP1450]
    Monitor Name (Manuf) : LQ156D1 (Dell P/N : KY9JH)
    Date of manufacture : Week 36, Year 2015
    Monitor Hardware ID : Monitor\SHP1450

    The screen has very small backlight bleeding at the bottom, but has no artifacts : no perceived flickering, even at lowest brightness, no "screen door effect", ...
