Hi to anybody, I have a D830 with the famous SEC3350. I never had read of grainy displays or things like that before, so I had no bad expectations.
I just opened the notebook, turned it on the first time after much wating and much expectation especially on the screen. And I wanted to cry. Just cry and disappear.
The screen is terrible, as you can see in the pics I posted here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=167789&page=35where anyway you can't notice the terrible antireflective panel which, on my opinion, is the main guilty of the sandy oily textured dirty aspect of everything. And which makes my eyes really tired. I can't work on it all what i must each day.
Everybody in Dell Europe closed all doors to me. They have my pics and a 10 pages Word file with lot of links to web pages with other clients comments on the SEC3350. They say the display is perfectly ok.
I need your help:
1) let's start this poll, and please feel free to leave also a message to share some words about your vote, and let's make of it something real, no exageration, no "i've got a perfect screen with an invisible dead pixel and I will never buy Dell again", just real objective stories about your WSXGA+ display, not only the SEC3350, even if I would really appreciate to hear more experiences about D830 WSXGA+, but not only, and not only negative stories. As they, listen to this, the french customer care told me that i was exagerating the problem, and that all the people writing in the forums are just like me, people who are only able to complain, because people with no problems never write.
I guess it can be partially true, even if I know it is not true, and I also know that most D830 users do not use to go on forums, they are mostly business man, their manager call and Dell says yes, but I am little and alone. But let's see.. i know that only being united we can beat them and show them that we have the power to buy or not their products.
2) if someone has got an e-mail of some escalation on europe or USA or Latino America, please, give it to me...
Please. I need your help in this. I can't do it alone guys. I am aware...

I have a Precision M4300, which is the same as the D830, but I got it with the SXGA+ Truelife glossy screen. It looks decent, and not grainy. I'm glad I didn't go with the matte screen in retrospect. This is the first laptop I've used with a gloss screen which I used to not like much, especially for a business laptop. However it seems to be just fine and looks great.

Well, you hurt me!
Yeah, as i was undecided between the D830 and the M4300. I see that I should have taken the M4300. Not worth the extra money as I do not use CAD etc, but at least i would have had a decent display and not this orrible SEC3350... Have you used Everest to see which model and brand of display have you got? -
Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
I've got a D830 and a SEC3255 (Yes, I know it's not WSXGA+).
It's got some light leakage, but it's fairly bright and fairly crisp so I've got no complaints. While I don't think it's the best screen around, it beats the crap out of whatever was in my 500m, so I've got no qualms.
