Hi guys ... I recently got a defective XPS 15 9550 from Dell and have asked them to initiate a refund. Per their refund policy, I think they can take upto 30 days to refund you your money. However in reality does it really take them this long to process to refund ?!

i returned an accessory to them last week. They immediately notified me when they received it from UPS, and issued the refund immediately. Went back to my credit card pretty quickly

Thanks, but does anyone have any experience returning a more expensive item, such as a laptop or desktop or something ?

    I returned a Dell XPS 15 9550 on April 12, 2016, received by Dell on April 13 and I received a full refund around May 4, 2016.

I bought a refurbished dell 7568 that died after 4 hours. Called to get a replacement and was told they had none(truth is the price discount had ended but they had plenty), was told that they should just refund my money immediately rather than wait for stock. I said fine. Two days later no refund so I called and was told it would take 30 days from receiving return. They got the return 1 day later. Exactly 30 days later I got the refund.

Absolutely unacceptable, holding peoples money for 30 days after return of defective unit. I am reporting them to the attorney general and will NEVER do business with Dell again. This is behavoir you would have expected from a company 20 years ago. I gave my money to asus instead.

That sucks having to wait 30-days for the refund to show up. If it weren't refunded within two weeks of the return being received I'd probably dispute the charge via my credit card company so that a hold is put on the charge and I'm not responsible for paying any portion of it.

In the UK at least, I had my refund around a week after the received the laptop back to their storehouse -a £2,000 AW17 back in 2013. I was told, for laptops at least, they need to validate that the machine is one expected --I believe, that you didn't change the internals and that it works. One can only guess how many people tried to switch mobos with a fried one or "forgot" to return a drive.

I did however asked them to rush the refund, as I placed a new order for an AW18 with them.
