I ordered my Dell XPS M1710 on the 31st July. Expecting it on the 17th of August but they had a 'delay with their suppliers' so now its been delayed again until the 31st of this month.

    1 MONTH

Its ridiculous, i must say that Dell's service sucks, they have no consideration for thier customers.

By the way, isnt this laptop a bit out of date by now? I have ordered the laptop with the Nvidia GeForce 7950 GTX 512 MB though ;) i just heard that this particular model has been around for about a year and a half already :p

    Thanks :)

The problem with Dell, if it's even a problem, is that they don't really keep a stock onhand of items needed. So if they need a part, they order it, but if the part is on backorder with that particular manufacturer, you're out of luck and have to wait.

I don't know if this problem is unique to Dell or if other laptop manufacturers also handle inventory the same way.

If you haven't done so yet, call them. When I ordered mine, they were giving free next day shipping out like crazy. Try to get some other items free, like a bag or external components. If you try to get something internal added for free, it will probably delay it even more.
