yeah, I know; I have no patience. REcently ordered an e1505 with estimated ship date of may 26th, but under status it says "boxing". Does it really take half a month to box it up or will it ship earlier?

Dell is good at under promising and over-delivering.

It is usually in boxing for 3-days because it is shipped from Malayasia and then boxed here in the states, which takes 3 days. Then it is shipped normally 3-5 business days unless you paid the extra for overnight.

So you should get it alot sooner than the 26th. :p

I received my 6400 two days ago, it took 7 business days, and that includes clearing customs coming up from Texas to Canada. It arrived 6 days earlier than the expected arrival date on the Dell website.

Basically it's like telling your boss that it will take a week to complete a project, then finishing it in 3 days, making yourself look like a hero!

I ordered mine on the 18th (from Dell Canada) and just got it today... Too many delays by them, and too many errors. The original e-mail said that I would get it on the 30th, but it didn't even ship until the 1st.
In the intervening time, I moved, and had to get them to change the address. They took too long to respond (the guy dealing with my case went on a vacation, so he missed Thursday and Friday and didn't work Friday and Saturday.) Then he gave Purolator the wrong address (not the same one that I e-mailed him).

But it's worth it. Great system so far.

On Dell Canada tracking system, it's said "delivery date". It is when they ship it or when I should receive it?

That is the estimated date of delivery from Dell to you. Remember though, they under-promise and over deliver. :p

Well, if I were you, I would call Dell and make sure it is still in Production. Then I would say that you need the computer by a certain date and you were wondering if there was anyway to get it delivered faster. A good rep will give you free overnight delivery. :p

Well Dell gets the tracking number right away. Then it takes a little while to be processed into the UPS or Fedex site. That is why you don't see it right now.

I ordered my e1505 on the 9th and all of the production steps except boxing were finished on the 10th (right before midnight). Now I've been waiting on boxing ever since... should I expect the thing to be shipped out soon?

It should ship out Monday...the boxing stage is 3-days because it has to be shipped from Malayasia to the US. Then it is boxed and stuff here. Then it is given to Fedex or UPS to be delivered. So it should be shipped on Monday. So you should receive it at latest the following Monday depending on what shipping option you chose.

Ok, i have a simple question to ask ( probably hard to answer ).

    I ordered my Inspiron E1505 on May, 25, 2006. ( 1 pm CST )
so what i wonder is when can i expect the unit to:

    finish boxing
    and
    Ship

i would use the 10 - 12 days thing but then we have the problem of memorial day here in the states.

dont worry, you are more than likely going to have a tracking number by today, or tommorow. Then you should get it on Wednesday (since Monday is a holiday)

I've actually received a notebook/attempted delivery before even receiving a tracking number from Dell. Although that incident may have been an exception.
