I filled out and sent a form asking for a return or possibly an exchange, and it said that they would reply typically within 8 hours. Its been over a day so far, so I am wondering if this is normal. I am just worried that they will just ignore this completely and that I will be over the 21 day limit before they actually read my email.

Since you haven't heard anything, and you are working w/a very narrow time from of 21 days...you need to call them up!
