I ordered a customized studio 15 directly from dell on july 18th with a design studio lid. It shows it is scheduled to be delivered on august 11th but it still shows it as in production on dells website when i log in. I was just wondering if that sounds right or if i should give dell a call?

Yes it has always said that. If it hasn't shipped yet is it still possible for it to make it here(in iowa) by the 11th?
-
-
Alright i will have a little faith in dell and wait and see what happens.
Thanks for the quick responses -
im in the same boat as you mate. i ordered my studio 17 and its supposed to be here between the 7th-14th mine is still in the *build* stage even today. according to me calling, chatting, and calling the automated number. and i live in jersey.

-
well i was told it was supposed to be delivered on or before the 7th by my reps but the automated services( the phone number and the dell site) say its supposed to be shipped* by the 7th and delivered by the 14th
-
very confusing if i may say so myself
-
I wouldn't feel comfortable until I had a tracking number to follow.
-
thats how i felt but even tho the people were nice and tried to help me i still couldnt get anything other then the dates and that its still in production in the build stage. and i was promised by 2 different reps and one manager(if you can believe that!) that it would be here before the 14th at the latest

It was 9 days from the time I ordered to the time I got the laptop and I had the free 3-5 day shipping.
It shipped on that Monday and I got it on Thursday, so 4 days to ship. -
well your just a very lucky duck arent you? i wish it was that fast for me haha
-
Yes indeed, it took 3 weeks to get my Inspiron 1545. I wouldn't trust what the rep says, I would always go by the date that is on the order status screen. They are getting a bit more accurate now, but I believe they still factor in extra time - the theory being that it's better to have a system arrive early than risk it arriving late.
-
very true, like a cushion of time so they arent late.

I ordered mine July 25th and it turned to "shipped" status yesterday (August 2nd). My tracking # was old and refreshed to the new one today (August 3rd) but so far all it says is that fedex has received shipping information. I want to know where in the US my laptop is!
Anywho, the ETA on dell's website used to say August 10th, and after it "shipped" it now says the 6th. Fedex itself says it should arrive on the 5th.
Who knows when I'll get it, though. -
Will likely be before the 10th though I'd expect - which was the original date.
That is still a quick turnaround for Dell; especially at this time of year when people are looking at back to school / college / university stuff. -
Ok so I just checked my status again today and it appears that it has been updated and now it's estimated to be here on august 28th! That's 17 days later than the first estimate. I will call dell pretty soon but what do I try to get them to do?
-
-
Ok so apparently my order status has been updated again to be delivered on august 18th which is much better. Do you think I should still call and ask why it was delayed or will it not matter.
-
-
Try if you like, but I doubt you'll get anywhere. In the grand scheme of things, a week or so delay is not really that bad. I know people that have had more than a month added to their delivery time scales and managed to get nothing from Dell.
If you need a computer by a specified time, always buy from a retail outlet or mail order is fine, but the machine needs to have already been built.
It's the price we pay for being able to customise them as much as we can. -
Mine was fast... processed the order last July 28. It was built and later on shipped last August 5 and is already in California Fedex distribution. Expected to be delivered within 2 days
How long will shipping take?
