Just wondering how many 3d marks (05 or 06) people have been getting on there e1705s. I just ordered mine yesterday and am curious how well this 7900gs really is. Anyone else with a 7900gs in there e1705 run 3d mark? What do you get?

    In 3DMard 05, I get a 6323 using Extreme G drivers 91.xx. I got a 6340 using 84.56. You should average around those numbers with the 7900 GS.

I have yet to run 3D MArk 06, but a decent score for that is prolly around 3500-4000.

In 05 I get 6200 with stock Dell drivers. These things are beasts for overclocking though. I have seen scores of 8000+

Wow, crap, thats awesome. So, I was wondering about the drivers, will I be able to instal normal nvidia drivers, or even omega drivers? Anything more up to date than the dell drivers?

The dell drivers aren't bad. I have heard of people download different drivers. There is a thread for that as NVIDIA does not officially support their 7900gs go with drivers.

A Go7900GS isn't quite as powerful as the Go7800GTX, but it consumes half the power (20W vs 40W), and will provide good battery life and little heat (relatively). Expect 6200-6500 marks with the GS.

Remember that 3DMark is only a synthetic benchmark, and doesn't do anything but give you a four digit number. Games are the real test, and that's one that the Go7900GS will pass with flying colors. ;)

True, very true, I only get like 600 3d marks (06) with my pc, yet it handels BF2 pretty freaking well. Compared to the 7800go how does the 7900gs match up? A small leep or twice the power?

Holy crap, I dont blame ya for being happy with that. I'll be happy if I get 5000. Actually I'll be happy if I can get 30 frames per second with BF2 on high video settings, ha, I look forward to seeing if how high I can crank up my settingings.

Yeah, I get over 30fps in BF2. I'm currently running it at 1024x768 with all options on high...I'm sure I could crank up the res higher though and still get playable frame rates. If you go for an e1705, I think you'll definately be satisfied with its gaming performance, I know I am. The 3 games I'm playing now I play at high settings and get awesome performance. FEAR, CS:S i get over 100fps, and of course BF2. I highly reccomend this notebook with the 7900.

some of those extreme high scores in that thread are with modified 1750, with DUAL PIPE and higher voltage #. So dont think out of the box you will be able to blast over 7000

Hey all, how are you all getting 6200+ in 3dmark05?

I've tried Dells drivers (both 84.29 and 84.69) and several versions from Laptopvideo2Go and I am scoring just under 6000. I've tried turning the laptop to Always On, but nothing changes. I haven't changed any of the Nvidia control panel settings from their defaults, either.

    Thanks

    start there.

Set to High Performance and Vsync off and you'll go up a few hundred points. You'll want to set them back to default or High Quality when actually playing a game.

    - The voltage keeps the card stable at higher clocks, just like it's big brother the 7900 GTX.
    - The dual-pipe only provides a slight cooling advantage vs. the single-pipe. The guts are identical.

Flashing the BIOS to overclock only takes a couples minutes. It's a simple process once you create the bootdisk. With 3DMark and ATITool, it's very easy to find a safe and stable clock set.

    Now, back to AOE3 for me . . . :D
