How many 8/28's were delayed?

Just curious how many of the 8/28 ESD's were acutally shipped and how many were delayed?

 

still waiting to see if i'm delayed or not we'll see tomorrow i'm not complaining I would wait and get money from dell lol.

my esd is 8/28 but have already received it for a week now!

 

Mine went from kitting to testing to boxing today. It has an estimated ship date of tomorrow, but I'm assuming I will be seeing it at the end of the week hopefully

I would like to be first and Order a 85 Day Dell-ay - With a complimentary Cancellation on day 84.

 

Come on, stop complaining. I have gotten confirmation from the Customer Service that my notebook will ship today and that there will be no delays, even though its still in build according to the phone status system. Other people have gotten assurances as well. So today will be Dells finest hour and lets stop painting everything black in this forum. How about sunshine yellow instead ??

Update: 08/28. Okay I have been naive or something. My ESD has slipped, noone has called me despite promises from CSRs that some specialized department will call me back, and Dell has yet to email me about the delay.
I went to an Apple Store this morning and they said that Dell is having financial trouble and is currently not manufacturing 17 inch laptops and if we ever get it, probably not before November.

 

I am still in pre-production and is due on 8/30. Dell has not contact me for any delay. I'll have to wait and see what will happen on 8/30.

 

Sunshine Yellow? Yuck! Seriously, gag me. That is the worst of the colors, in my opinion. Too Big Bird for me.

People here don't want to be optimistic. They want to be mean and have anger and hate in their hearts for Dell and all Dell representatives, especially the non-English speaking foreign ones, because THEY are causing THEIR system to be DELL-AYed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gather your torches, angry mob! There's a post about possibly suing Dell. To that post!

I, on the other hand, am cool as a cucumber and even welcome a DELL-AY. I think I want at least a 30 day DELL-AY. I mean, why not? Everyone else has been DELL-AYed, why can't I?

well all ya'll wanting to be cheerful about this Delayed stuff, I got you all beat. I ordered mine on July 7 and was assured by 3 different people TODAY (8/27) i guess that would be yesterday, anyway, at Dell that my order would definately ship well before the 28th to arrive before my ESD of 8/28 not sure where this is going........

so i'm not painting anything black, i just want it pink!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My 1521 in Flamingo Pink is to ship today (8/28) but as of right now it is still in the build stage... I don't have much confidence that it will ship today

 

well not officailly delayed but its 8/28 (ok 17 mins into it )
mines a blue 17" 1720 so sure i will be delayed most likely
if places keep acting like this im gona run out of places to buy

was told by cs that someone would call me with more information
and no one ever did

this is turning out to be my worst experience waiting on my vaporware 1720
except best buy still might be worse .

I ordered a Midnight Blue Insp. 1720

 

I was assured by two CSR's yesterday that my order would be shipping today. I find myself skeptical. Maybe the CSR's don't have any better information than we do. It certainly seems that way. One fellow I was in chat with yesterday had his computer freeze while looking up my order. It took him 25 minutes to get it working again. When I ordered my computer I was given a date of 8/7. That was a bit of a long wait but I would do it. Now at 8/28 and still in BUILD and my current laptop's video failing I find myself less willing to wait. Still, I will honor my commitment to the end of today, THEN I'll order from somebody else.

 

mine's still in the BUILD stage- apparently it's the same place socks disappear to. i'm growing convinced my computer's a myth

 

who knows you might actually get a transformer as a laptop...whit that much time Dell is spending on it nothing is impossible lol

I know whats happening, there pumping all these Colored 1720's to the dell kiosks! That way customers can see what they might be able to use some day in their life!!

 

Delayed to September 5th as of 15 minutes ago. What a surprise. It's a shorter delay than the first (August 8th -> August 28th), but still... Is there any chance they'll make it this time? Ugh.

ive read that somewhere i think in dells blog someone there said they where told that a part thats delayed all orders to 9/15 .... ( this has to do with lcd's or paint )

anyone have a direct line to higher up in the company i believe we all could have the vostro 1700 case sub any parts we need panted ( if you look on there tech support and the service manual the manual is the same for both the 1720 1721 and the vostro 1700 )

the question is should i wait 2 months for a laptop , one of the key buying points was that you can add a second hard drive , how many other companies sell a laptop with dual hardrives ? ( i think hp does )

Yeah, really that means delayed until forever.

Can someone tell me - are they even planning on building my laptop???

 

My daughters got delayed to 9/5. Dell now has the ability to accept the delayed order date online, rather than calling or emailing customer service. Guess they are preparing for all future delays that they anticipate.

 

Chat log this morning asking why my system is delayed (again):

That last statement says it all, doesn't it? We will not be able to commit to any exact date.

I read somewhere yesterday that there's a possibility that none of us are getting our computers until November. Are you guys prepared to wait THAT long? I don't think I am.

I wanna know why Sony, HP, Toshiba, etc haven't been all over this taking advantage. Where else can I find a computer that is similar that isn't an Apple?

 

Mine was supposed to ship 8/28. Dell called me on 8/27, assured me that it would ship on or before 8/28. checked status thim a.m. and it is now delayed to 9/5. this is getting fn rediculious. BTM order date was 7/20

 

1420 Pink, Order date 7/17. Now today it's been changed to ESD 9/4. This is the 4th time they have changed my date. The biggest surprise is that they never send any kind of e-mail to update you to the situation. They have not comunicated with me ever. I have to always call customer service.
If anyone gets a Pink 1420 before 9/4 please post it so the rest of us can be green with envy!

I posted my dates and story of woe, but I am wondering, does anybody know if Sony will build the Pink Vaio to specs that I am looking for? The only change I need is the integrated graphics card changed to a GEForce. And can they do it before CHRISTMAS? I bet that's the next target date to hope for with Dell!

 

Well, I was assured yesterday by Dell that my daughter's pink 1420 would be shipped today. I ordered it 7/8/07 and this morning my fourth ESD was 9/5/07.

No, you cannot get a Pink 14 inch Vaio with that graphic card option. In fact, with the 14 inch Vaio, only the Intel Integrated option is available. I did notice one helpful thing that Dell should add to their order site. When an option is out of stock on Sony's site it says, "Out of Stock" as oppose to giving a fairy tale estimated delivery date.

I was delayed too. The CSR told me it was my LCD screen that was causing the delay. I finally got free overnight shipping, though!

Yep. If it wasn't for the incredible price break, I'd cancel this thing and go buy a MacBook. But I can't justify the extra $400+ just to avoid waiting.

 

I got delayed again. It's too much for me, I've bailed. I went to the outlet and got a system very similar to what I had ordered. I did have to add Bluetooth and then buy all the extras like extra battery, spare power supply piecemeal but it ended up being cheaper than what I'd ordered and it will be here tomorrow.
I did have to pass on a slightly higher end system that was Flamingo Pink. I think my employee's might have had too much fun with that.
