I wonder how many people who own 1520, have WSXGA+ (1680x1050) screen and are experiencing the graininess issue? Also, how is the contrast on this screen? (its specified as 300:1 but people claim its much lower than that).

Can the people who own this display report?

    Thanks a bunch

On my 1520 for me to see graininess, I have to be 6 inches from the screen, so it is perfectly acceptable to me. now I think it is because mine is a different brand WSXGA+ screen than many of the other ones. Mine is stated as a LG Philips while others I've seen are a different brand (Samsung, I believe). I also have no problems with the contrast though I don't know what it is.

From my understanding they are only using AUO and C**(i can never remember their name).
My screen has graininess, but as the above poster said you have to be 6" from the screen to notice it, doesn't bother me at all.

I received mine today ... And yes, I do have graininess... My wife, who´s unaware of these hundreds of topics regarding this issue, saw the computer and say WOW, but then asked why the screen looked "dirty"...

    Regards!
    P.S. Nevertheless, I'm so happy !!!!! What a great machine !!!

Isn't 6" too close? When I use my computer, I am typically at 1-2 feet away from screen. Is it visible from 1-2 feet?

At 1-2 feet it really isn't noticeable for me, even one foot is quite close to sit to the screen, I sit about 2.5 feet away.

@BuckeyeFan: I believe its only the WXGA+ that have the AUO and Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) screens. My packing slip says LG Philips, while the others I heard were Samsung for the WSXGA+

I have had one issue with the screen, I was looking at an image that I took, and it looked terrible on my lcd screen, but it looks excellent on my CRT, which is probably due to the 6-bit screens.

I don't have graininess on my 1280*800 (don't know the XGA code sry) anti-glare screen.

I don't know if it's 'cuz of 1280*800, but I don't think anti-glare caused any problems for me.

Yes, the matte screens and the 1280x800 screens in general seem to not be affected.
