My Vostro just shipped todayand I'm planning on buying more memory with the Dell Dollars that came with the deal. From the factory, it will have 2 GB of mem and I want to upgrade it to 4GB.
The question is, how many slots does the Vostro have and does anyone know if the 2GB is x2 1GB sticks or a single 2GB stick. Thanks.

2 slots. One under the laptop, one under the keyboard.
-
^^^ correct anytime they can dell will use 2 sticks so you 99% got 2 1gb sticks
-
Great.
-
all laptops typically are like this steveeb. its not just dell.
-
Also make sure you get a 64bit OS if you plan to use all of the 4GB of ram.
-
yeah.
I phoned up when I was buying my 1400 JUST because I wanted to get a single 2gb stick (rather than 2x1gb) but the guy just wouldnt do it.
Think I'm gonna sell my 2x1gb and buy a couple of 2gbs. -

It's something I didn't notice until *after* I ordered.
According to Dell's site, a 2GB stick is ~$210+tax. Who are they trying to kid? Haven't memory prices been coming down in the last year or so? -
Buying that ONE extra GB of ram costs the same as buying an entire 2x1GB set of laptop RAM.
How many memory slots on a Vostro 1500?
