    2. Boxing, then shipping.

However, your order may be put back to pre-production later today or tomorrow. It happened to me last Sunday :( :(

Like he says theres 5 phases in all

    Clearing Payment
    Pre Production
    In Production
    Preparing for shipment
    Shipped!

With some luck your hopefully get it before the 19th, I ordered an M1330 on the 30th Of January and My Estimated Delivery is the 15th and i'm on stage 3 aswell but I had to wait 3 days from stage 2 to 3 because the 6 cell battery was out of stock . Craig007 also says your order might go back to stage 2 which is true because at the moment they might have enough parts in which to fufil your order but when it comes to making yours a part might be out and so your have to wait for a nice dell lorry to deliver more parts to the factory

Also, Stage 3 is a big part it includes:

Collecting the parts for your order
    Assembling your order
    Testing and quality checking
    Software adding
    And then boxing.

Sadly production tends to be the longest process

    EDIT: 50th Post for me , Now i'm a notebook Guru! :)

I ordered on the 30th of January as well for an M1530. Do you think that the battery could be holding me up as well? Also how do you check this stuff?

Haha... so has mine after 13 days of pre-production, it was only in production for 4 hours

Dell are a joke in the UK at the moment, they won't even admit they have long delays.

    Not your fault lol

What really annoys me is that they have their SALES line open 7 days a week but their order status line thingy is Monday-Friday.

They want your money, but when they get it, they treat you like dirt.

Hey Craig, how much longer will my laptop be in the Build stage for? Four days seems like enough, especially when the reps are telling me there aren't any delays.

Omg , I'm back and they put me back on pre production! Can't believe that :( I'm asked a rep and she said she doesn't know why it happens and that the only part on my order with lead time is the 6 cell battery.

Come On Dell get a move on!

Hmm, I just went to the Dell site and built my laptop exactly as it was when I ordered and then clicked the preliminary ship date button and it told me it would take about 5 days to build it. I didn't realize it would show you this, in which case I am still within that and it should be done by tonight.

I live in the Netherlands, and I ordered 2 XPS m1530s. By mistake I ordered one 1280x800, which I tried to cancel on monday. However, they already shipped it!!

The second one was the 1440x900, but this is still in Phase 2: pre-production. It was in phase 3 today, but it came back in phase 2. EDD is 15-2-2008.

Why ships the 1280x800 so fast ? Do they have a shortage of 1440x900 displays ?

    Hi
Thank you for replying promptly , must be EMEA online status not updating , because it did state being in production then went back to phase 2 pre production.

    hmmmm
Not sure what he means by ideally in production stage , sounds like guessing

Well just got back after a week away and lo and behold my order's been pushed back to pre production (it also states that this is as of 01/02/08 which might mean it's not exactly that accurate)

    Hey Forge,

I'm in the same boat as you, I ordered an identical system to yours only with a wireless N card and 9 cell battery. Ordered on the 25th, EDD is 13th Feb. Sent an email the other day to them and they are adamant it will be here on or before the 13th...

I'm not holding my breath, will keep you posted if I hear anything or magically receive it through the post :D

    (UK) btw

Got an email from dell this morning labeled "Dell Order Update", got all excited.

    Then I read it.....

We have now changed your EDD from 13th Feb to 3rd of March.

    Great.

What's the no. of this phone line where you can get 'more reliable' (atleast as reliable as you can get with dell) information on what stage your PC is in?

Dell should be more specific about what you're waiting for, there's nothng more annoying than waiting in an ambiguous state for days/weeks/months.

Yep I got the email as well , delayed till march 3rd.
    I am ****ing annoyed.
I am on the horn next week to demand free delivery for ****ing me around .
They shouldn't take orders for configs they cant build , I thought there might be something on their system to stop this.
Its probably the LG 1440 by 900 screen I think thats delayed , its no longer an option in the config.

Delays seem par for the course for dell , I have read loads of post from people that get delayed for ages - one guy had his 1730 delayed for 2 months .
I thought the demand might have gone gone down since xmas. Well I thiught wrong.
Im going to wait it out because I got a deal on the specs that nobody else comes close too (768 quid)

I've just received an email too, telling me the EDD has changed from 15/02 to 29/02. It's still in pre-prod.

I think I might cancel it now, only I've invested so much time in waiting for it already. :(

Wait it out , if your order is delayed by a couple days then they have to give it in 3 week blocks , it should come sooner , like alot sooner , they only missed my origional EDD by a couple days and it was stated at 3rd march , mines coming tommorow

Tell me about it, a replacement m1330 was ordered on the 8th February and they have just told me it's not going to be here until the 3rd March and they can't change the collection date of the current system from the 22nd February.

They sure as hell aren't taking the old one until the new one arrives, and that's that.
