If you take care (of it) then you don't need DellCare!

Why would I need DellCare in the first place?

The whole point of DellCare is to cover accidents if they happen. Just because *YOU* take care of your laptop, doesn't mean some careless jerk won't come along and accidentally spill something on it.

It's nice to have that added bit of security and know that you're safe from accidents.

I didn't hesitate for a moment when I ordered my m1330 and got 3 year Complete Care.

i never buy anything when it comes to extra warranties. im my perspective there is no point. I do take great care of my machines though. Here are a couple of rules so you can save a couple hundered.

    1. Never eat or drink next to your machine or let anyone else do it.
    2. Squeeze it tight when you carry it.

thats it. And you save a couple hundered. Besides if it broke down a year later it will already be an obsolete system somewhat. I plan to keep this dell laptop for about 2 years and then will try to get another one.

Maybe its just me but i dont plan to pay hundereds of dollars for the pleasure of eating next to my machine. Besides you dont want grease on it anyway so just put the food away. Use the extra $$ to make your system more powerful or save it altogether.

Sometimes it's not by choice. What if you've got your laptop at the airport waiting for your flight and some child comes running through and bumps it off your lap?

There's always going to be unforeseen events which could potentially damage/destroy your laptop. I felt the extra cost was justified so I don't have to worry about the "what ifs".

I bought my 1520 on my American Express, which will extend the original manufacturers warranty for another year. I have used it in the past and they even cover accidental damage. So in reality I would be paying and extra 200-300 dollars for only an extra year of coverage. Plus my homeowners will cover it its stolen. CompleteCare seems less and less attractive....

Maybe they're bitter because they didn't buy Complete Care. ;)

what i posted was not sour. it merely reflects how i feel about the subject.
everyone is entitled to their opinion and mine is that any kind of warranty over the default 1 year is a waste.

Not everyone uses an AMEX to buy their laptop, or wants to risk increasing their homeowners premiums in the event of a claim.

Exactly what I thought about warrantys before I had experience with Dell. BUT!

While you will be out of warranty with in a year, one who purchased extra warranty will get upgrades/replacements/next model replacements down the years.

Bingo! These are other benefits of Complete Care which they don't really tell you about.

When somthing happens to your machine thats an indication to Buy a new one.. I never go for warranties on products. Ill just use it as an exscuse to get the latest thing.. and surley claiming on insurance would be easier and cheaper than these complete care plans?
