So I have a couple friends that want to buy my Dell E1505 but I don't want to rip them off. Here are the specs.
Dell E1505 15.4 Widescreen.
Core Duo T2400 (i think) 1.83 Ghz.
2GB DDR2 Gskill Ram (Put in myself)
120GB Hard Drive
ATI X1400 Video Card
Windows Vista Ultimate
DVD Burner
Logitech MX518 Mouse
Targus Chillmat
9 Cell Battery

How old is it?
How much did you use it? (did you ever do any over-clocking?) -
Its probably a year and a half old now.
Everything works like new. Never overclocked it. It is very well maintained. Hardly even any scratches. I maintained it very well based off of some of the guides that can be found on this site. -
$400-500ish, depending on how much of a friend they are.
-
Would it be worth any more with this configuration:
Dell E1505 15.4 Widescreen.
Core Duo T7200 2.0 Ghz.
4GB DDR2 Crucial RAM
160GB Hard Drive
ATI X1400 Video Card
Windows Vista Home Premium
DVD Burner
9 Cell Battery
I'm still keeping my E1505, but was just wondering what its value would be. -
Oh Oh me next!
Dell Vostro 1700
T8100
3GB RAM 4-4-4-12 timing
Vista Business SP1
160GB HDD 7.2k RPM Fall sensor
Media remote control
WUXGA 1920x1200 resolution
B/G/A WIFI
Not a scratch or wear AT ALL, never been overclocked.
Few other specs but thats the gist...
Im only pondering what I could get for my baby if I have to upgrade to a gaming rig. -
I'm planning on selling my E1505 soon as well, and mistakenly(read: non-researched) quoted a $300 price for a friend. He's a good friend, but I don't think I'd be able to part with it for that cheap, especially with ebayers getting $500 -$700 for similar specs:
Intel C2D T7200 (4MB/2.00GHz/667MHz)
15.4" WXGA+ TrueLife LCD (1440x990)
3 GB DDR2 667MHz 2 Dimm
256 MB ATI Mobility Radeon X1400
120GB 5400RPM SATA
Intel Wireless-N 802.11 AGN 4965 Mini PCI-E Card
Microsoft Windows XP Media Center 2005 & Windows Home Vista Premium
6 Cell Battery
Bluetooth 2.0 (USB Adapter)

Alright, we just need the appraisers here to determine the value now.

A similar configuration brand new would be what, 500 bucks or so? It is the Vista Ultimate and 9 cell battery that really add something to it I think. For that reason, I think that 4-500 bucks if it is mint, 350-400 if it is well-used (aging battery), and a less if it is a little rough. Nothing depreciates like a computer bro. I think that a true friend would price out comparable systems online and see if it is really worth it to take a used one. Especially if there isn't going to be a warantee.
-
Yeah, its great technology advances rapidly, though at the same time things get so quickly replaced by newer and faster tech. Ah well, I guess good impacts come with bad.
-
How about mine? (config in sig)
The 6400 and E1505 are synonymous. The RAM and HDD I upgraded myself. -
Same, same...you might be able to talk it up to someone, if you throw in a "tweaked" system with cool uber software.
Bottom line, if you're going to sell it to a friend at going-rate, you're probably only going to get around $400 for it. You can get lucky on CraigsList at times, or at a for-sale board at a local university.
But think about it...would you pay $400 for a used computer? I don't know if I would, simply b/c I want a NEW one...that is MINE.
It's kind of like when I used to trade baseball cards. My buddies and I would always rant and rave about how much they were "worth" in the Baseball Becket...but in reality it's only worth what someone is going to pay for. And in the "used" market, it's often difficult to match up the person who wants to sell "high" with the person who is willing to buy "high", and vice versa.
For instance. I bought my machine last Sept. for $1017...I spent about $140 (net) upgrading the RAM and HD (I didn't sell the old HD, but I did sell the old RAM). I saw a deal straight from Dell.com to buy a machine VERY similar to mine (only 2GB RAM and a larger 5400 RPM drive) for $725 + tax AND it came with a 3yr warranty. It was an excellent deal, but you can't ignore the fact that they were selling my laptop 6mo later (BRAND NEW) at a 30% discount. What's more, I bought mine "used" at the Dell Outlet...my laptop was reasonably priced at around $1400-1500 new at the time...so the discount was really at around 40-50% 6 months later. -
Basically after reading meatloaf I feel dumb in that didn't think about dell and how they charge low prices for comparable models. I love my dell and I couldn't see it go for much less then 800-900, and being as though you can probably get a brand new deal with near the same specs for about that after certain rebates and coupons. So at this point I am keeping my dell, and since I basically have to keep the averatec till it dies Ill just save and upgrade in 2009/2010.
-
Yeah, why did Dell have to make the Inspiron the Budget line now. It ruins the entire line making even the ones that weren't considered as "budget" even cheaper than they are, even though their performance is great.
-
Either way its worth alot more to me then its worth on the market.
-
I still have a Inspiron 9300 that is in like basically new condition and babied it every day. Paid about $1200 at the time with all the discounts and stuff and was a pretty good deal but now it is probably worth nothing. It is still a great machine to me with a 6800 go card that could be overclocked pretty nicely. Runs cool with an idle about 5C above ambient for CPU and 10C above ambient for GPU. Too bad no one thinks that it's worth much anymore.
Atleast upgrades were cheap. 2.13GHZ pin mod for $20 and 1GB ram for $15. Sometimes it feels faster than my M1330 but that's most likely due to Windows XP on the 9300. -
Yeah, I got my E1505 right before they launched the new bulkier Inspirons that were considered budget, so I got a nice deal for it.
-
Check it boys....brand spanking new:

I hope this doesn't mean that my E1505 is worth 300 bucks now.
-
Seeing that price from meetloaf's link makes me think I could get a lot more then $500 for my dell. But I still think I'm going keep mine, I may just pick up a second job to pay for the upgrades I need.
-
I think my specs also outweigh it, I guess it is kinda bulkier too I guess. Hmmm.. I dunno. Since its still useful to me, I'm gonna hang onto it.
How much is my e1505 worth?
