    Heres a thought:

Is buying a T7250 or less with 2 MB L2 cache better or spend a few K's extra for the 4 MB T7300?

(Once u have tried the 4 MB L2 ......you will be p permanent "convert")

They needel little persuation to remove the VAT....The original "Quote" from www.dell.co.in was Rs. 87009.52 ... then Rs. 83889.52 AND Finally Rs. 80663.00.

PLUS... they seem very reluctant to offer any discounts on XPS... while talking they were more than happy to "give" 12 % discount AND "no VAT" on other line ups.... But the answer was a "NO" for XPS.... I really had to convine the guy about the stict 76 to 80 K budget... took me 3 days .... but i guess it was worth it.....
Frankly, the guys at Dell (sales) are pretty knowledgeable.... He had the competitions specs learnt "by heart" .... u really cant "fool" them.... but once they "understand" ur companys budget allowances ... they try their best to accomodate you....
So,.... bet not to bargain in "Rs" terms.... give them ur "strict" budget and "specs"... ask them to come up with a solution....
Say for e.g., u want a 200 gig HDD but ur budget permits 160 gid.... DONT give them 200 gig spc and ask for a discount.... rather ask for a quote for 160 gig and ask them to bump up the spc to 200 gb for u to consider the purchase...... SAVE the VAT arguement for the last (icing on the cake)..... the are pretty comfy with letting go of the VAT....
Last, rem.... never go for the 1st or 2nd offer.... If u r "phone shy" ... simply write a mail.... explain that u want the product dearly ...but budget permitting.....
Hey.... even those guys at dell are human.... they understand.... talk or write in a friendly manner.... He / She on the other side is not ENEMY No 1.... try to work together to come up with a workable solution...

IF ALL ELSE FAILS.... try 2 quotes of the same product on 2 diff days (1 day apart) ... you get the chance to bargain with 2 diff ppl.....

Finally... all Sales ppl have "Targets".... to be ment by the end of the month..... Try to bargain on the 13 or 14 of the month and then on 29 or 30 of the month.....Get it?

    Ha Ha

    Enjoy !!!!!
