I am using an external WD Passport drive. It draws all the power from the USB port. Reading some reviews / posts over the web, I hear that there may be some concern over the fact that the Passport will draw 0.6A when USB 2.0 spec is for only using 0.5A, and notebooks can typically be 0.4A to 0.5A.

So how do I find out what the Vostro USB port is rated at? And should I consider the dual USB port adapter accessory from WD?

500 mA max is the norm.

So should I be concerned with the USB powered drive? And will the dual USB cable actually help with providing extra power?
