    Hi people,

    Can someone please tell me how to change the language of the dell webcam console window (It was in english before, and I have not idea why it changed to Italian!!! :( ) Thanks. The dell webcam center and webcam manager are in English.. its just the webcam console which seems to have changed language.

    Thanks in advance.

    Edit: Btw, for example, I had nVidia CP in Italian before.. and then I found a set of 7-8 files in C > windows > system32 which had copy of the same but for the regional language (they had same file name but with a 'r' added at the end)... So I just removed those file and the CP was back in english... Does anyone know of something similar for this webcam console thing?? I checked extensively but could not find anything at all.. thanks again.

    Update: Spoke with dell support, and they couldn't fix it too.. and since it was more of a software issue, they were even more lost.. lol.. anyway, its strange though. Will try talking with the dell italy guys on Monday, but I guess they would be of little help too since tech support generally is more for hardware issues as such I guess.. anyway, lets see.. don't know what else to do.

    And yes, I reinstalled the whole thing.. still the console window alone is in Italian.. strange.

    Aaah..that's too bad...It seem's like it would be a *simple fix*, not a *search everywhere* to fix mission ;) :)

    I hope that Monday finds you with better results! :)

    Same here, I'd like to change the language of Dell Control Point and Embassy security center. I guess you'd need to fix some registry entries :(

    I have no idea > asked dell guys here, no response.. then called them again, and they said they had no idea and that are working on it. Asked me to reinstall the whole this, I did and its the same.... But I can see some "italiano" folders within the webcam application program folders... but cant figure out anything thats related to language (or may be I am missing something)... and I dont know about the registry keys too... as in I dont know which one would apply to this.... :(

    Ok I was checking for more info... and this is what I found..

    I was in the regedit >> local machine > software > creative tech > web cameras > oem022

    and this is what I see >> please check attachment.

    Here the language id says value is 0x00000410 (1040)

    But when I checked the reg keys for Dell webcam manager and dell webcam center, the language id was 1033 for both, and for both of them (as I mentioned before) the window is in English..

    So would I be right to assume 1033 is the key for english language id, and can I change the language ID in the above mentioned picture to 1033??

    Also, how do I know if thats the webcam console regkeys?? because in the current user reg key section this is where the dell webcam console is.. also in the local machine section I cannot find the webcam console languag option anywhere else... here is another picture (attachment 2) for the other place console keys are but its more for videofx and wudiofx and such...

    Please let me know about what you think / any ideas / tips / suggestions??? :) Thanks a lot in advance.

    Ahh.. just found this >>

    1031 = German
    1033 = English
    1034 = Spanish
    1036 = French
    1038 = Hungarian
    1040 = Italian
    1043 = Dutch
    1045 = Polish
    1049 = Russian

    I think I am going to try changing it... lets see what happens.. Hope I don't screw up something else ! will be back :)

    Its that "language ID" thing.. now I set the reg key value at 1033 :) and the Dell Webcam Console window is in English

    Many thanks to JORISA for the reg key tip / headsup :) :)

    Hope you manage to do something similar too :) Cheers.

    Nice to see you found the solution. I'm still trying to find out how to do it with contorlpoint. I searched the whole registry for 1043 (dutch) but I found nothing related to dell :(

    Can you please give the correct naming of what you are looking for??

    Even for me there was nothing that said "dell webcam console"... rather it was under the webcam something > oem22...

    So if you could tell me precisely, I can look for it...

    Meanwhile I will try to find with what you mentioned in your previous post.

    Btw, is this dell control point present only in some models??? I am asking because I havent heard about this before.. and google linked me to latitude e series models.. so I am wondering if I would be able to look for it in my m1530 if its not present..

    I've got a Lattitude E6400, so yeah I guess so.

    I foud the webcam thing at:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Creative Tech\Web Cameras\OA001
    end
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Creative Tech\Web Cameras\OA001

    I searched for "LanguageId".
    Still nothing on the damm controlpoint with super lame translations.
    Maybe I could just delete the dutch resource file...

    Thats one way of doing it I guess.. but I am not sure though.. But instead of looking for languageId, did you try for a shoter name like "lang"? probably they dont hvae the full name in the reg? I dont know, I am just thinking..

    Another thing is to look for control point locations.. since i understood its used for network connections, U may want to look in both current user, as well as local machine, also look in software, connections and related...

    I think lang will come up with to many hits. I checked all the dell registry folders, but none hade anything to do with language.
    I also checked out the xml and config files in the installation directory, but nothign there either. Maybe a registry key can be created but its kinda impossible to find that with trail and error I guess.
    Ill give dell a call tomorrow.

    I opened the controlpoint exe with a hex editor and it seems it uses get_ThreeLetterWindowsLanguageName(): "The three-letter code for the language as defined in the Windows API."

    Which is the locale defined in Regional options (this also defines currency and date forum) This is kinda a pain in the *** to me, since the dutch translations are really horrible.

    ahh thats bad... But isnt there a way to override that and get the language you want? I dont know but something like override the get_three.... with something else that would define the language you want? I am just wondering..

    That would require hacking the exe, and I'm not really into that. maybe it's worth to post something on the dell forum. It would be nice to at least have a hidden registry config value for freaks like me.

    As a workaround I set my system locale to english, and changed all the date/currency formats to mimic my own. Ill have a look in creating a custom configuration (so your own language, but as languagecode ENU or so)

    Yeah, you could try that..

    And yes, I think its time you get this on the dell community forum.... probably someone from dell themself might be able to help you out.. Keep us posted if you can. Good Luck.
