I wanna see if my screen is a chi-mei or not, how do I do it? I tired searching forums, but I didn't see anything relevant, though I remember people talking about this before.

    Thanks.

If your screen looks ok then don't worry about it.

Control panel -> device manager -> monitors -> Generic pnp monitor -> properties -> details -> Hardware Ids

Under device manager click on "Monitors", then click on "Generic PnP Monitor", click on the "Details" tab. Click on the "Device Description" drop down menu and scroll to Hardware IDs. In the value window if you have the chi-mei display it will say "CMO 1309", if you have the Toshiba display it will say "LCD/2306". I guess if it's neither of those it would be the Samsung display.

I know that lol; I pretty satisfied that my replacement m1330 is a toshiba screen. - It also "appears" to have less of a whinning noise. The otherm1330 is just unbearable. When I call the customer service, and said grainy screen- he immediately knew the problem - or so it seems. Wohoo lol better screen in my opinion. The chi-mei screen had pixel problems- some more white than others- not really dead pixel tho.

I know you know, hence the smiley :)

I'm glad you're one of those "It's not an LG therefore it must be a bad screen" type of people.

LG doesn't make an LED screen for the 1330, otherwise people would complain. :p Toshiba is the best you can get. There are some people who have received the 1330 with a Samsung LED, but from what I've seen it looks like only Europeans get those.

Are you exchanging laptops or just getting a piece of hardware replaced?

If you're just exchanging the screen, then you shouldn't have to format your hard drive. I'd back it up just in case, but they'll probably swap it out to test out the new screen, then put it back in when they ship it back.
