I am planning to buy a dell inspiron. I would like to use it majorly for Java programming as I am a internet developer. I need to install oracle database server and a bunch of developer tools. Although I don't play games, I do wish I could do video editing for my sony digital camcorder and create my own home dvd. I will use it to watch DVD movie sometimes. I desire preformance more than mobility. I have a limited budget $1000-1500.

Can anyone give some sugestions to choose model, cpu, hard disk, video card, etc?

    I would appreciate your help.

    Thanks,[ :)]

Why do you want Dell so badly? There are other products in that price range that are better.

I finally ordered 9100 yesterday. With $1491 before mailing rebate, I got 2.8GHz w/HT, WSXGA+, 60 GB HD, 256M Memory (will upgrade by myself later), DVD Burner, 64MB ATI 9700 video card. Dell 1350 Internal wireless.

I am not sure about Dell 1350. Is it something removable or integrated in the mother board?
