I love the computer except the constant and annoying hard drive noise. Someone on another forum recommended putting washers or a cloth of some kind over the hard drive.
Are these viable options or should I look into something else? I have a 250G 5400 RPM FWIW. Would a cloth over the hard drive be a fire hazard?

Any thoughts on this? Obviously one issue is finding the correct material to avoid overheating. Surely someone must of done this

Putting a cloth over the HDD will definitely give you overheating problems. Try enabling acoustic mode in the BIOS and see if that helps.
How to dampen the noise level on the M1530 hard drive?
