I love the computer except the constant and annoying hard drive noise. Someone on another forum recommended putting washers or a cloth of some kind over the hard drive.

Are these viable options or should I look into something else? I have a 250G 5400 RPM FWIW. Would a cloth over the hard drive be a fire hazard?

Any thoughts on this? Obviously one issue is finding the correct material to avoid overheating. Surely someone must of done this :)

Putting a cloth over the HDD will definitely give you overheating problems. Try enabling acoustic mode in the BIOS and see if that helps.
