I have a Dell Inspiron 15 and the touchpad is driving me crazy. Is there a way for me to disable it ? I've tried searching the forum and the net for answers but the only solution was to disable it through control panel's mouse option. I do not the think the Windows 7 has that option anymore.

Help is much appreciated. Random clicky has to go !

Did you install the Dell touchpad driver? That should add the appropriate options to the default control panel settings.

    Control Panel/Windows Mobility Center

If Quickset is installed it gives you the option to turn the Touchpad off

I must admit, I haven't looking deeply into it regarding it's name rendered in your system, but have you tried to go into devicemanager, its properties, choosing to disable the pad from there? -That should disable it all together.

I've tried. No such option on the device manager. I'm seriously missing something here.

    Hrmrmm... *Scratching head*

One solution, eventhough it is definitley not optimal, perhaps consider follow the guide to how to disconnect the touch pad cable connector?
-Then perhaps assemble the computer again, and boot it up w/o the touch pad connected, to see if there is some funky messages in devicemanager.
If any, remove the items, turn off the computer, disassemble it again, to reattach the touchpad cable, and then reassemble, boot up and see if Windoze recognize some new hardware? It's a chore, but a possibility.

Go into the control panel --> mouse, if you have the driver installed for touch pad it will have a tab (mine is called device settings). then you can click disable.
