I got rid of it but then I realised that now it doesn't show the icons when changing the screen brightness with the Fn Key (for example).

I know I can run it once I'm in vista but I would like to set it back the way it was

    thanks guys and girls

I have a feeling that is one of the NVIDIA options. I don't know why. Do you have that checked or no?

What I did was put all the startup back and up and ONLY took out which I specifically knew was not it.

As in MS Word, iTunes stuff. Outside of basic things I didn't mess with anything else.

if your talking about changing things in msconfig then no, i didnt touch anything to do with nvidia. it all looked so important. i think it was through windows defender. i just chose not to let it run at startup. now i go into defender with no option of turning it back on!

Defender huh? I disabled that long ago. Try going into MSCONFIG and re-enable everything except the FEW programs that you know. You know that Apple does iTunes so that's okay to get rid of.
