Well, if you have the accidental damage protection plan, chuck it out the window and call them back saying it's destroyed - through no fault of your own :)

Just be thorough in your description of the damage. Be polite and persistent to whomever you speak to. Start with reps, and if nothing is solved, escalate it to the supervisor level.

It seems like you should be dealing with tech support, not sales, as the damage resulted from a technical issue. Tech support does have the authority to do exchanges. Just keep on them, it might take some effort, but in the end they are pretty good about making the customer happy.

Don't be stupid and throw it out the window. Dell doesn't cover intentional damage.

You just need to be honest with them. Take pictures, detail the information, and be honest with dell. If you do have accidential coverage, dell might cover it with very little hassle. The problem is that they will only fix the areas and replace the parts.

You might be able to get a new laptop, but I would think that you could only do that under special circumstances.

I agree, I wouldn't want the parts replaced either. Just explain that you don't want tons of repairs on a new computer, you want a new exchange. They'll do it.
